This will (hopefully) be a fairly laid back and mature forum, although miscreants will appear and trolls are quick breeders.
As such, here is an outline of the rules: -
1. No trolling. This should be fairly obvious, and yet forums are a trolls playground. A definition of Trolling
2. "Not Safe For Work" (NSFW) content must be accompanied by a warning. In the world of killing things and seducing barmaids, there are times when certain subjects may not be safe for work, so please stick a warning on anything that might not be viewable under the rules of an office, etc. If you're unsure, be conservative and put onE on anyway. Alternatively, PNSFW (Possible Not Safe For Work) is acceptable.
3. Abusive language. Don't be abusive, though that's somewhat obvious. Secondly, we're all adults and whether in context, by quote or when it's appropriate, adult language may be used. But don't overdo it though and keep it appropriate.
4. Lulz, n00b! Just no. Unless it's in satire, I suppose. (Some people are immune to sarcasm and satire so if you see someone you think may have broken this rule, report it and I'll decide.)
Exceptions are common abbreviations; such as LOL. And "w00t" is also allowed...because I said so.
5. Religion. If you're here as part of the D20 Synergy project, then religion is obviously going to be covered extensively, seeing as it's based in a setting where Gods are as real and physical as any other NPC or character. Obviously that leads to some pretty dangerous territory. However, with such a huge subject I can't really hand out one rule to suit the whole thing. So until specific problems arise, please just keep it mature and sensible please. And no religion bashing. I have my own believes but I wont allow them to get involved in this. Afterall, it's all fictional. ANYTHING can exist...that's the point. If you're not here for the 3.S project, then...
5.5 Religion in association with Real Life. I'd just stay away from the whole thing, to be honest. The subject is guaranteed to get somebody annoyed at some point....
6. Politics. Without typing all of the above again...please keep it mature and sensible please.
7. Copyrighted material. I don't want to be sued. Also, get permission to post other people's things.
8. No HOTLINKING. It annoys the hell out of the people you're stealing from. If you're going to add images: download them, watermark them with the URL of where you got it from and host it somewhere. Image Shack are quite good, I hear.
(I can host things also, so get in touch with me if you want me to do that)
9. Civility. If you don't like someone, fair enough. We can't all get along. But you must be civil. I will not tolerate snide comments (however passive aggresive) and I will not tolerate snarkiness. Acting in contradiction to this rule will be met harshly (Assholes do vex me)
10. Impersonating Administrators and Other Members. Impersonating other members and especially admin and staff isn't allowed, either on the forums or in the IRC. Punishment for doing this could be anywhere between a warning (which all staff will be able to see on your profile) or being banned (at the other extreme). Don't do it please...It's naughty. *Wags finger*
11. I reserve the right to add or change these rules at any time. I'll always announce changes when I do so, however.
